My wife Erin and I have a true passion for helping business owners. After all, we own and operate two small businesses ourselves in West Des Moines and Ankeny, Iowa.

We understand first-hand the blood, sweat and tears that goes into running a business and how expensive services can be. Some days it seems like everyone is out to take a portion of our profits, until there's nothing left for us. 

I saw this first-hand during my 15-years career in the payment processing industry where I helped to grow a credit card processing program to 14,000 customers. During that time I became very familiar with "gotchas" in the industry:

  • Processors who quote low rates and fees upfront, then tack on extra charges after you sign up
  • Sales reps allowed to up-charge credit card terminals by 200% and keep the mark-up as a "commission"
  • Processors locking you into long-term equipment lease that costs you 1,000% more than buying it outright
  • Business owners hit with expensive cancellation penalties tied to long-term contracts—some of which renew automatically if you don't request to cancel within a short window of time

My name is Erin Nanke.  My husband, Kent, and I launched our first Shear Madness hair salon business in 2013.
